Terms of use

These terms apply when you download or use Utterfinch. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
The app and the licence
Oncilla AI gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Utterfinch on Macs you own or control. You may not copy, resell, reverse engineer or extract the speech models from the app, or use the server in ways other than through the app, except where the law allows.
Free, trial and Pro
- Free runs on your Mac and needs no account.
- Pro uses our servers and needs an account. New accounts get a free trial (currently 7 days). After it, Pro needs a paid subscription; until you subscribe the app keeps working in its free form.
- Subscriptions. The price, billing period, renewal, how to cancel, refunds and taxes will be set out here and at checkout when paid plans start.
Fair use
Pro is meant for normal dictation. To keep it fair and affordable, each account may use up to about 30,000 recognised words and 2,000 Clean/Formal rewrites per day (UTC). If you reach a limit, dictation carries on on your Mac with the free model, and the limit resets the next day. We may change these numbers with notice, and may restrict accounts that are shared or automated.
Your content
What you dictate is yours. We process your audio and text only to give you the service, as described in the Privacy policy. If you choose to share a clip, you give us a licence to use that clip and the text you confirm to train, test and improve our speech models, as described when you share it.
Accuracy
Speech recognition and rewriting make mistakes. Check what Utterfinch writes before you send or rely on it, especially for legal, medical, financial or safety-critical text. Utterfinch does not edit text typed into terminals.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Utterfinch to break the law, to harass or deceive people, to attack or overload our systems, or to record people without the consent the law requires.
Availability and changes
We work to keep the service running, but we don’t promise it will always be available. We may change or end features, with notice where we reasonably can.
Ending
You can stop using Utterfinch and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you break these terms.
Disclaimers and liability
Utterfinch is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing here limits rights you have by law that cannot be limited.
Sanctions and availability by country
The app may be downloaded in many countries, but paid plans and the account service may be unavailable where the law, including economic sanctions and export rules, does not allow us to provide them.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the place where Oncilla AI is established, and the courts there decide disputes about them. If you are a consumer, you keep any right you have under the mandatory law of your own country, including to bring a claim in its courts.
